Thank you for your remarkable and beautiful portrayals of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Harriet Tubman at our March 2024 chapter meeting. Thank you for sharing the hardships these women faced and the bravery it took for them to overcome them. You truly brought history to life. In addition to the standing ovation, I had a NUMBER of our members tell me how amazing you were. One said she was absolutely “riveted.”  I have always wanted to really celebrate Black History Month at our meeting and you did a beautiful job honoring two women who fought against horrific racism and inequality. Wow! Such an incredible performance! It’s been several hours since, and I still feel like gushing about every part of Annette’s performance that I was blessed to see and hear. So accomplished and inspirational! Annette’s ability to take on the personas of so many historical figures and share their contributions and God honoring ways in such an interesting and compelling format is no easy task. Yet Annette made it look so easy and natural and had all of us on the edge of our seats as we leaned in to hear more about each person’s life.

I have been starting every evening meal with my husband by reading from “A Spoonful of Grace” by Annette Hubbell for the past three years. Placing the book — along with a pair of reading glasses – at a table setting has focused our minds on being grateful, for ecah other, our lives, and our relationship with God. The practice of evening prayer before our meal centers us on our spirituality, and has brought us both closer to God through the scripture for each daily entry. I can not tell you how important prayer has been through this crisis caused by the pandemic. I would highly recommend this book for gifts to friends and family that you love.

When I saw your finished book I was so happy for you, recalling the struggles you went through to put it together “just the right way.” Thank you for my inscribed copy. The first thing I noticed was “Special Graces,” and read the patriotic one first! I have seen Annette’s performances, and found them extremely engaging, informative, and challenging. She brings to life her characters with sets, costume, and voice, and selects from their stories some of the most intriguing facets of their lives. It was not only entertaining, but very thought provoking as well. I couldn’t recommend more highly. Aside from her performances, she is personable, approachable, and an asset to any program where the goal is not only to entertain, but to capture hearts and minds. After the event I attended, their was a very long line waiting to speak with her, and she was unfailingly gracious.

What an engaging speaker! I laughed, cried and was touched to the core. Her inspirational message about these amazing women, who were ordinary until God revealed His purpose in their lives, was simply amazing. I look forward to seeing her again.

We’ve had Annette back multiple times, and the attendance at these functions always increases when they know she’s coming. Annette brings these women to life and she makes us feel that we’ve actually got Harriet Beecher Stowe, or Corrie ten Boom or any of the others right there with us. We get a front row seat in a behind the scenes look at how these historical figures moved from ordinary to extraordinary—all through their faith in God. We don’t often get to see the role faith plays in the life of a world changer, and this is what made Annette’s portrayals so unique. I was spellbound—we all were. A (non-Christian) friend and I attended your Sunday afternoon performance on January 19, 2020. We both loved it! I could hear her audibly reacting to numerous surprising facts in the lives of these amazing women. You are one amazing woman yourself, to have done the research and written all this and then to perform as all these amazing ladies!  Thank you so much.

I was teasing yesterday when I said you made us cry at times—that’s a good thing! We should shed tears over the heartache and trials of others. Thank you for letting us experience God’s provision and guidance during insurmountably difficult trials. They showed us there is always a way. Thank you for bringing Corrie, Elizabeth, Harriet, Gladys, Amy and Sojourner to us.

I saw Women Warriors by Annette Hubbell yesterday and it was fantastic. I laughed and cried as Annette brought each woman to life. It was like I was there with them …it was mesmerizing! She even had the accents down for each woman! What these women went through, and how their lives were changed because of it, was amazing. Annette told of their strength, wisdom, and courage—beautifully. (She based her performance on her new book: Eternity through the Rearview Mirror.) This is a must-see one woman production!

I want to thank you again for a very educational afternoon of Women Warriors. I’m still thinking about these brave women. Your performance piqued my curiosity, and I have looked up several of them. I think your simple, but extremely effective use of props made these women come alive for me. So clever.

I  hope you’ll be doing future performances—I’ll be on the look-out for your name. It was a pleasure and I wish you continued success and hope to someday you’ll take on seven more brave women.

I appreciate all the research that went into this book. Ms. Hubbell has looked at many direct accounts of each of these individuals and also provides information on the legacy these individuals have left behind.

My family has a personal connection with Amy Carmichael, as my Mother in Law grew up in the South Indian town where she served for many years. We appreciate the way Ms. Hubbell tells her story because it really captures her mother-like presence in the lives of these many children whose lives were marked by her kind deeds.

I have also enjoyed reading about common historical figures I learned about in elementary school, such as Bach and Sojourner Truth, because this book presents the side of their stories we never learned about in public schools. Much of the great works they accomplished were an overflow of their faith in Christ, and a direct result of divine inspiration.

I so appreciated revisiting their stories from a fresh perspective and seeing how God wove together the details in their lives to perfectly prepare them for the calling he placed on them. It makes me realize that my life can also leave a mark on the world, not only as a Christian pointing others toward Christ, but also in practical service to mankind with Christ as my inspiration and example.

Eternity through the Rearview Mirror is not just a regular set of biographies. Reading this book is like having an actual conversation with each person! Annette has written the accounts in first-person and she includes many of their actual words. She has a way of bringing each story to life with the sights and sounds of what that person actually encountered during his or her life and how they overcame many obstacles to fulfill their purpose and to change the world for the better. Anyone who loves a good story will enjoy this book although the reading level and content are geared more for older students or adults.

Eternity through the Rearview Mirror is a wonderful living book. …There are lots of books that highlight Christians in history, but I’ve never seen one with such conversational storytelling and a diverse collection of stories. It’s engaging, and  enlightening.

The stories themselves are only about 4,000 words, making it easy to pick up and read a few in one sitting. I didn’t want to put it down once I started reading.

Sometimes seemingly small things can spark incredible change.  Keeping our eyes and hearts open for this could make all the difference. ….

What makes someone a hero of the faith?  Just the phrase is intimidating, if you ask me.  But as with most things in life, a change of perspective can make all the difference.  I’ve been reading about the lives of 17 individuals who did some amazing things and instead of feeling intimidated, I’m inspired.

I’m always a little sad when I finish a good book.  I even read all the notes.  I wanted to be able to that I was most impressed or interested in the chapter on “xxx,” but I couldn’t decide on any one person, so I had to give up on that idea.

Biographies are one of my favorite reads and Eternity Through the Rearview Mirror is now my favorite. Ms. Hubbell artfully speaks for each of these seventeen, fascinating people with words that express convincing and genuine emotion, personality and temperament while relating at the same time the magnitude of what has transpired in these remarkable lives. Most of these personalities, such as Galileo or Harriet Tubman, were somewhat familiar but now have become friendly acquaintances of mine. It is indeed an inspirational read!

We’ve been reading this book for about Year now. It sits on our kitchen table and every evening my wife reads it outloud to the family. It is beaten up, has food stains on it, the cover won’t close, and the pages are getting pretty tattered. We have no intentions of replacing it either, this book helps fill our hearts and souls as we fill our bellies.

I am seldom at a loss for words. It’s been a long time since I was beyond overwhelmed watching a live performance. Perfect words escape me for this one woman show. This meticulous actress, humble author, multi-talented, phenomenal woman is Annette Hubbell. Seven wonderful women warrior stories were packaged with love in a show performed articulately by Annette.

Thank-you you so much for your performance (Witness to Gettysburg) for our 8th grade class. It was wonderful to have the vocabulary list and the student outline. We reviewed them yesterday and today and the students wanted me to tell you the following things about what they learned:

The students enjoyed the details about your work in the hospital. They said they thought you were really there. They felt that your description of the battles and the aftermath were equally as wonderful. They had a vision of everything you were telling them in their head as you were saying it. The students felt that your emotions were genuine, especially when you were reading the letters from the soldiers. The girls loved your dresses. The students loved your voice and really enjoyed learning about details that you don’t find in a book. (How the food was contaminated from the latrine being emptied in the river where the cooks pulled the water to make dinner, how the people did not know about germs, how communication was done with music, how long it took a soldier to heal). They liked having the differences between how it was then and now pointed out to them.
