I wrote A Spoonful of Grace because I wanted a way for families to engage in faith conversations that were fun, meaningful, and thought-provoking. What better way then at the dinner table? But I know how it is—so much going on—how does one fit one more thing into the day? And that’s how I came up with the idea of the two-minute graces in Spoonful. Presenting the prayers in little packages would seem to answer the reality of hungry tummies, short attention spans, and not letting the food get cold.

When I tested A Spoonful of Grace, one family said “These happily consume the entire conversation during dinner.” A Dad told me that their 15-year-old appreciates his family more because they spend quality time together. Grandparents tell me their grandchildren think these graces are the best part of the meal!

My aim was to capture a person’s interest quickly. I hope that Spoonful will help turn your mealtimes into conversations about faith and values—about what is really important in life.
